How does the Rhinoplasty done?

Nasal surgery is preferably done with general anesthesia, and in some cases only with local anesthesia or topical anesthesia with sedative drugs, especially in minor surgery and nasal surgery. Moreover, the cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and auricles is performed preferably with local anesthesia and, if desired, with a sedative. Nasal surgery usually takes one and a half to three hours, but blepharoplasty takes about one to one and a half hours.

The nose is usually operated in two open and closed ways. I have full experience with both methods but prefer to do the open method because I believe the surgeon’s mastery and the final result is better. The difference between these two methods is related to the incision on the collumella in the middle of nose, the removal or no removal of nasal blades is not related to the method of surgery and is done if necessary. In rhinoplasty surgery, most of the manipulations are done on the cartilage, the bone and mainly the skeleton. Unlike public imagination, the surgery is not carried out on the skin lining the nose, and this case complicates the surgery on the nose with thick skin. Such patients should have moderate to good results and not excellent results, because thick skin like a thick cloth will prevent observing the beautiful statue of the nasal cartilage, which is its underneath.

Methods and complications of nasal surgery

Properly performed nasal surgery does not have complications, but the major complication is the exacerbation of allergies in people with allergy, whether active or latent. However, in very rare cases, the loss of a part or all olfactory senses may not come back.

Nasal surgical incisions and their repair is carried out with the utmost precision and technique, so fewer patients complain of a nasal repair scar line, even in the lateral incisions that are made to remove the nasal blades. If specific technical principles are observed, the sutures will not be seen, and the incision will also fall into the skin fold that is not visible.

In Blepharoplasty, the skin and the suture line in the eyelid fold and the lower eyelid is aligned with the skin line, and is not visible. Only cases in which the skin folds near the eyes, along with upper eyelid performance, the suture line will remain like one of normal skin fold.

In facial skin stretching surgery, the incision will not be visible because the incision starts from the inside of the scalp and passes through the front of the ear and behind the auricle.

Initial swelling and numbness around the nose and eyelids and whitening of the eye heal within two to three weeks. However, bruising and swelling don’t occur using new anesthesia techniques and a milder surgical procedure, provided that the patient’s blood coagulation condition is good. The recovery of tissue swelling can take three to six months, but the final nasal formation will continue for more than a year.

The best age for nasal surgery in women and men is after 16 years and 18 years old, respectively.

The patient can perform his / her usual activities and work activities up to one week after removing the brace and sutures.

The patient is able to walk well after 24 hours and to perform personal activities. However, he/she should avoid heavy workouts and bending lower than his heart level for at least one month after surgery.

Is nose surgery safe?

Because most patients are young and middle-aged, there is a low risk of anesthesia and surgery. If surgery is performed by a trained professional, the patient’s overall health and nose surgery will be safe.
